Sunday

We had a great day!

Our day began by attending Sunday service at Christ Bible Church. Our team was so encouraged to be under the teaching of Pastor Ford and to be a part of an amazing time of worship and prayer.

From there we went to Millennium Park to explore! Afterwards we enjoyed lunch at Navy Pier and headed to the Skydeck at Willis Tower! The view from the top of the Skydeck is incredible and our team was blessed to have a devotional time by the Southside windows.

We then went back to Sunshine and Jared kicked off our nightly teachings about poverty, injustice, and God's heart for the poor. I am so excited for our students to dig further into these issues and learn from amazing ministry leaders like Jared and Joel Hamernick.

We also got to celebrate Maddie's birthday with candle's, cookies, and of course, an amazing chorus of Happy Birthday!

Students will begin serving in their work groups tomorrow morning! They are already sound asleep.

Thank you so much for your prayer support! You can also support and encourage our team by leaving comments (either a specific note to your student or a note to the entire team!) We read them out loud at meal times...so fun!

Keep praying for us!

Love from the 2016 Chicago Team!

    Hey babe.
Alayne showed me a pic Joel sent of you yesterday at Navy Pier and someone must have started chopping onions at the same time cuz my eyes got all watery. So yeah, there's that.
Miss you! But happy you're on this adventure and pray for God's goodness and love to utterly overwhelm you as you serve him there.
Btw...it's our last day with Evie here. I showed her your picture and she squealed, "DOH-DA!!!" & tried to tickle your face saying, "ticko ticko ticko DOH-DA!!!" :D

  9. Hey Som-Yaya,

It sure is strange being on our family trip to the North Shore without you, but we know you are doing God's work there. Or at least we hope you are since we didn't see you in the group photo!

Despite the hard work you did there today, we bet you found it more palatable than the five-mile hike the rest of us did!

We love you so much Punky!

    Love,
    Dad and Mom

  10. Elizabeth,
We miss you being home but know the Holy Spirit will work powerfully in and through you. I'm excited to hear about your experiences and the teaching you've had, and how God works it into your heart. We love you and are praying for you. Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

    Xoxo, Mom
