Monday

Service groups started today! These groups will serve together every morning this week and there are 6 groups this year. Two groups are serving at the local elementary schools and they are helping with any tasks that the school needs as they wrap up the school year! One group is serving at Living Hope Church by cleaning, organizing donations at the thrift store, and any tasks that would bless the church! The other three groups are all doing a combination of community gardening projects and service tasks including building planters, new gardens, and landscaping around buildings!
The groups are listed below so you can be praying for them!

After service groups, we toured Pacific Garden Mission, which is the largest homeless shelter in the country, to learn more about how this ministry is striving to be the hands and feet of Jesus by caring for the poor.

Tonight we were blessed to hear a message from Joel Hamernick and his passion and love for the city shone through his message from Jeremiah 29 on seeking the shalom of the city.

  4. P-Swizzle, Park-Mommy, Baron Von P-Nubsesh - miss you bro. Hope you are having the adventure of your life in the Windy City. Bet those elementary kids like your new swaggy haircut. Flash is loose in your room and we can't find him. Oh well. Hope HDMI1 is being a good leader for you - he is our favorite. Be open to what God has in store for you all week. Work hard and come home when yer done. Love ya!

  9. Hey George...ahhh.
    I see you're on the living hope ministry team. I love that we have something specific that we can pray about for you. Anything, no matter how small, becomes a great thing when done with great love. I'm proud of you for serving. I thought of you often today as we were out and about on adventures. Both Kennedy and I had the day off so shenanigans were on the agenda. Did you know minigolfing at a metal sculpture garden in a thunderstorm is not the wisest way to spend an afternoon?
    Me: (thunder rumbles in the distance) "was that thunder I just heard?"
    Brett: "nahh, we're fine."
    (massive lightning bolt streaks across the sky, Brett throws putter and runs)
    Brett: "LESS FINE!!"
    So. I think I'll try to keep us all alive another day at least until you get home so you can join in on the shenanigans.
    Btw...our family is good at quite a few things. Minigolf is not one of them. So if ever a minigolf ministry opportunity arises (what. It could happen), you should probably not join that team. The odds be never in your favor.
